Abstract

|
Background: This research is executed to confirm The impact of a stroke education program on disease acceptance and knowledge among acute ischemic senior stoke patient.
Methods: This research used a before-after time difference design dissimilar experiment research about a nonequivalent comparison group. The period of collecting data an started on the 8th of September to the 2nd of November, 2014. The subjects were selected as an experiment group of 28 people and a comparison group of 28 people from acute ischemic senior stroke patients at D hospital in B metropolitan city. Data analysis used the SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Homogeneity validation was tested using ¥ö©÷ test and Mann-Whitney U test. The evaluation of thesis used Mann-Whitney U test.
Results: The hypothesis 1 ¡®The experiment group from stroke education program having a higher disease acceptance than the comparison group¡¯ is supported (Z=-4.568, p<.001). The hypothesis 2 ¡®The experiment group from stroke education program having a higher knowledge than the comparison group¡¯ is supported (Z=-4.740, p<.001).
Conclusion: To conclude, the stroke education program can be used for nursing intervention and evidence-based research hereafter because it has been confirmed that the program develops higher disease acceptance and improves knowledge among acute ischemic senior stroke patients.
